Why is Dual Band Wireless Better

A dual-band wireless network is one that has two separate kinds of wireless radios. Although many ordinary routers do not support it, a dual-band router supports both 802.11a and 802.11b/g/n. Dual-band routers are capable to transmit on 5 GHz, as well as on 2.4 GHz frequency bands. Thus, a dual-band wireless router has a wider signal range as compared to a single-band router that can only support one signal band.

Dual-band routers offer more flexibility, as these can provide better signal strength. This helps in setting up a cleaner network in larger office areas or homes where more accessibility may be needed. While a single-band wireless router is suitable to be used in a small home or office, most expanded businesses would benefit by using dual-band wireless routers. A dual-band router can increase productivity in an office where you need to load your web pages faster. This happens because of higher speeds that dual-band routers provide.

As these can support both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, you may connect on any of these bands. Usually, there are multiple users within an office accessing the Internet. Thus, they would require higher speeds that can be made possible by dual-band routers. A single-band router may offer congestion when there are multiple users. Additionally, a dual-band wireless router can better support applications requiring media streaming. Thus, gaming and visual experience can be enhanced by the selection of a dual-band router.

Apart from this, dual-band routers can easily support newer hardware or devices requiring more bandwidth. If you feel that your Internet usage or style may alter in future, you should consider dual-band wireless routers in comparison to those supporting a single band. Increased user requirements may not be well supported by a single-band wireless network. Thus, a dual-band router scores higher on several aspects including signal strength and range.
